Upcoming SUV from Honda

We got a glimpse of BRV’s prototype at the Gaikindo Indonesian International Motor Show this year. The car is India bound and would be launched between April-May this year. The active utility vehicle bears a close semblance to the Honda CRV but has been derived from Brio platform.

According to the latest updates, it has emerged that the premium SUV would be available with petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine would be turbocharged unit and would develop decent power and torque figures (118bhp, 145Nm). The 1.5 litre diesel motor would generate 98.6bhp of power and 200Nm of torque at a low 1750 rpm. The transmission options include 5 speed manual and a CVT automatic. This would make BR-V the first-in-segment to offer a CVT transmission option.

Creta and S-Cross are expected to be the car’s main competitors. Unlike other SUVs in the segment, it has been confirmed that BR-V would offer seating capacity of seven. An impressive ground clearance of 201 mm, together with set of 16 inch wheels look promising on a car of this size. The body work, wheel arches and huge bumpers inspired from CR-V give it massive appeal and road presence.
